It’s #TBT and we are looking back at a recent collection Erin Fetherston.
ERIN by Erin Fetherston Fall 2013 : “Juliet”
Olivia Hussey in Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 film “Romeo and Juliet” serves as the starting point for Erin Fetherston’s Fall 2013 collection. Drawing on the contrast between the actress’s youthful sweetness and the film’s gilded opulence, Fetherston creates a line up where old world charm meets modern, feminine dressing.
Baroque-inspired brocades and textured jacquards sit next to iridescent lace and lurex chiffons in an elegant array of cocktail dresses and sophisticated separates. Rich jewel tones and metallics mix back to icy accents of lilac and blush while prints take a playful nod to rococo art with reimagined fleur-de-lys and climbing rose motifs.
Fetherston’s fresh approach to daytime dressing is lovingly nuanced with touches of romance. A lace jacket with grosgrain details pairs back to a matching pencil skirt or skinny trousers. The traditional parka receives a clever update in dark metallic denim, providing an ideal choice for everyday wear that’s fit for a night out. Evening options are resplendent in embellishment and texture; a honeycomb jacquard strapless frock adds drama with elaborate pleat detailing while an ombre lamé draped sheath or lace mermaid gown with clear sequin overlay delivers undeniable glamour.
