On July 5, 1946, French designer Louis Reard made a splash with his first two-piece swimsuit and the rest, they say, is history. And though in today’s lingo, the bikini will be classified as a senior citizen, it is still as fresh and as innovative when it was first introduced.
And for summer 2015, the year it turns 69, there are plenty of choices—from classic two-piece bikinis to retro-styled versions that are pin up-worthy.
