NEW YORK, Oct 27, 2012/ — Thursday night, Steve Madden was joined by Aviva Drescher, Aaron Neville, Roshumba Williams, Halley Feiffer and Cory Kennedy at The Doe Fund’s annual Gala to honor America’s veterans.
The Doe Fund’s Ready, Willing & Able program helps individuals to break the cycles of homelessness, incarceration and addiction by providing paid work and job placement in conjunction with comprehensive social and educational services.
The 400 guests raised an additional $160,000 throughout the course of the evening in their efforts to help these heroic individuals win the battles against unemployment and homelessness.
The honorary Gala co-chairs were Mario and Matilda Cuomo and R&B legend Aaron Neville, who performed songs from his new album. The evening also marked the premiere of Operation Opportunity, a poignant documentary short that explores the work of The Doe Fund’s Veterans Program and features Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer.”
To mark the evening, the New York Stock Exchange lit its façade blue in support of The Doe Fund and the veteran participants of Operation Opportunity.
