BERLIN, Aug 4, 2014/ — From the press notes:
“Head, heart and dress. When these work together, a woman can radiate from within”, says Dorothee Schumacher. She wants her clothing to inspire women. Because, if women love what they wear, they can embrace their femininity.
Dorothee Schumacher was born in 1966 near Düsseldorf. She travelled to Italy at a very early age, driven by her passion for the language and her desire to take in the flair for fashion created in Italian knitting factories. She then presented her first designs in 1989.
At a time when women preferred to emulate the androgynous style of wide shoulder pads and trouser suits, Dorothee Schumacher’s collection comprised exclusive feminine tops – “delicate rule breakers”.
Today, the designer and her team create four collections a year at the head office in Mannheim. Her name does not just represent a ready-to-wear collection, but also a special spirit.
The Dorothee Factor: uncompromisingly feminine. This is the designer’s mantra for interpreting the spirit of times. The female form is always given a modern sporty twist. Or the other way round. In this game of contrasts, luxurious materials are the great passion and fine details the great love.
Dorothee Schumacher is a mother-of-four, a businesswoman and world traveller. The secret of her success is being able to predict what women all over the world dream of – probably, because these women are akin to her.
