BERLIN, Jan 24, 2014/ — When fashion and music come face to face, the tension is electric – like love at first sight. And rock is no exception.
Both the sound and the style of rock’s heroes and their muses have inspired the new Laurèl Fall/Winter 2014 Collection, presented on January 16th captured the brand’s hallmark style of feminine ‘luxury ease.’
The audience was immersed in a very special fashion experience, staged as a rock concert with music by the hot up-and-coming band I Heart Sharks, providing the soundtrack to the vision of Laurèl’s Head of Design Elisabeth Schwaiger.
The Laurèl design team has translated the idea of rock chic into a collection that explores contrasts. “Leather, studs, silver zippers, heavy boots, chunky, voluminous knits and bold color pairings such as red with black are contrasted by fine, feminine dresses and gossamer lace,” explains Elisabeth Schwaiger.
In these iconic Kate Moss-style looks, outfits team biker jackets with layered chiffon tops and leather leggings, mini-skirts with high turnover boots. Expressive shades of red or yellow add accents to the predominant off shades of black, taupe, camel, and dark blue.
Animal patterns of leopard or python add playful touches, hand-embroidered in sequins or – ultra-modern – printed on neoprene. Art prints are also featured, this time in a “city lights” motif taken from a Jo Netzko painting of a nighttime metropolis.
Highlights include a printed oversize coat with biker details in lattice-effect piqué neoprene, and a little black dress in superfine guipure lace with deep-plunge back, combined with flat-heel boots and studded accessories. Boris Entrup’s styling transforms the models into Moss lookalikes, with undone hair, nude lips and mysterious smoky eyes with characteristically smudged eyeliner.
Laurèl’s new styles leave no room for indifference. “The motto of our show LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME is a clear statement for us,” affirms Elisabeth Schwaiger.
