Strength, balance, energy. In a word: sport. From fencing to skating, from boxing to tennis, for the Fall/Winter 2018-19, Furla interprets the main sports disciplines in a collection that draws from the idea of movement and transports it to the realm of the luxury of taking care of oneself. It combines comfort and experimentation, functionality and dynamism.
The Furla bag collection for FW 2018-19 is defined by neat lines, elegant geometric shapes, and ultra-technological finishes of materials: voluminous leather and versatile calfskins, practical details and a wide use of heat-sealing in handmade construction.
In this way, the bags acquire the solid structure and strong personality of a handbag and tote, and the practicality of backpacks in a rainbow of colours and materials. The fun side of the sport is captured by the sparkling details of the straps and pouches.
The collection’s colour palette is well-defined: alongside the cherry red, white and black, three colours typical of sports imagery, ample space is given to wisterias, roses, and lilacs, which fade into sky blue and powdery light blues. The prints, characteristic of Furla’s creativity, tell of universes and stories through writings and symbols, often found on the bags as decorative elements.
This can be seen in the double buckle in Brass and Ruthenium, with the Furla logo imprinted in red on a black plate in the centre, which is the defining feature of the new Furla Bellaria. The buckle recalls the carabiners used in climbing, in its own unique design. Furla Bellaria is a mini crossbody and handbag, available in small and medium, in three colours (onyx, cherry and slate), all recognisable by the central white element.
The new Furla Fortuna in quilted Nappa evokes the look and texture of boxing gloves. The defining aspect of the bag is a bold silver metal closure. The series is made up of a handbag, a shoulder bag and a backpack.
The backpack, a recurring theme in the collection, finds its truest interpretation in the new Furla Favola, quintessentially urban. It comes in a variety of sizes and materials: from metallic Nappa to pony hair, from classic Wonderland calfskin leather to printed nylon.
A more playful spirit is expressed in the backpack Furla Arcobaleno: mini and small, in ultra soft Nappa leather, with a glitter effect. It has a rounded zip closure, found also on the front pocket. The mini version may also be used as a crossbody.
Functionality and customization are other important characteristics of the collection.
Beginning with the iconic crossbody Furla Metropolis, which for FW 2018-19 offers not only the usual interchangeable My Play Furla flaps, but for the first time, also plays with straps: each one is
customizable in many variations of length and style, from coloured studs to large plexiglass rings. The mini crossbody Furla Metropolis Message bags also “talk”, through writings inspired by each sport, for example, fencing: “En garde!”.
A happy marriage between customization and practicality is found in Furla Lady, the monochrome hobo bag – roomy and light, with precise, geometric lines. It comes in small, medium and extra large as well as in a tote. Furla Lady can be customized by changing the handle, which can be changed with one of a different colour, or the same as the bag, but decorated with studs and other applications.
Large and comfortable, with an internal dual partition: it is the new Furla Reale. An essentially elegant handbag, harmonious in its parallelepiped shape with a double handle, it may also be carried as a shoulder bag. Its main style feature is the large perforated Furla logo on the front pocket.
