FLORENCE, Jan 11, 2014/ — Move over boyfriend look! We now have “menswear for women” thanks to talented young designer Barbara Casasola. She did not just pushed the envelope of using men’s clothing elements, she actually owned it!
A guest womenswear designer for Pitti W 13 on January 9, 2014, Casasola introduced men’s tailoring into a woman’s wardrobe in keeping with Pitti Uomo. She used traditional menswear fabrics and a more masculine palette of grey, black and blue.
And just to make sure that everyone knows that it’s still womenswear, Casasola also used her staple silks in lip-toned pin, red and Bordeaux shades. Each piece was made in the host city, Florence and exclusively with Italian fabrics.
And in honor of the Pitti W host city, Casasola launched her first handbag. The unusual shape is inspired by the traditional coin purses of Florence.
