BERLIN, Jul 20, 2014/ — From the press notes:
Born in 1982 in Poland, Aleks Kurkowski emigrated with her family to West Germany at the age of 8. First, it was her desire to study architecture or mathematics, but tempted by a documentary about fashion design, she decided to go into fashion.
She started gaining experience in small design studios, like the fashion label Mongrels in Common. After her graduation in fashion design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hanover, Aleks Kurkowski worked in the fashion industry for a few years.
With the experiences she gained, the wish to start an own fashion label grew steadily. This plan she put into action by end of 2012. In September 2013 the designer took the next step to professionalize her business by moving to Berlin.
Aleks Kurkowski implements her affinity for architecture and mathematics into her collections with straight-lined and geometric shapes.
