DALLAS, Mar 18, 2013/ — The Frye Company, known for its utilitarian boots, hosted a branded day and night music showcase during the SXSW music festival, at Buffalo Billiards in Austin, TX on Friday, March 15th, which featured performances by buzzing bands such as Gold Fields, Rhye, MØ, Jaime N Commons, The Last Bison and Asher Roth, as well as DJ sets by Mayer Hawthorne.
All of the bands/performers wore Frye boots and friends of the brand also stopped by, including
Sarah Barthel of Phantogram who were also shod in Frye boots.
Founded by John A. Frye on March 10, 1863, in Marlboro, Massachusetts, Frye shoes weren’t made to be icons of fashion or fanciful in style. They served a simple purpose: to ease the daily lives of factory workers in that small New England town.
One hundred fifty years later, Frye shoes continue to be functional and durable. But, from its lowly beginnings of being the footwear de rigueur of factory workers, it has also become a favorite of musicians, and thus Frye had been elevated to iconic, even sublime due to its long history.
Through its 150 years history, the Frye Company has expanded to become artisan manufacturers. Each generation of Frye craftsmen dedicated themselves to the art of shoemaking, creating new patterns, discovering new materials, and even inventing shoe-making machinery.
The dedication to crafting footwear as functional as it is durable has been our company’s benchmark ever since.
