NEW YORK, Feb 26, 2013/FW/ — Peruvian designer Sergio Davila kicked off New York Fashion Week with wearable options as each piece of his menswear and women’s wear hit the runway. Davila is no stranger to the fashion spotlight, proving once again that his work is worth waiting to see.
This collection was inspired by his 8 month long trip he took to Lima, Peru in a Victorian apartment. Though Davila’s collection looked sporty and sophisticated, each silhouette that came down the runway had a dark punk vibe to it as well.
As fall approaches, layering is a must. Davila definitely gave men the perfect pairings in order to be fashion forward this upcoming fall season. The designer is known mainly for his menswear line – winning the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award for best menswear designer in 2009 – but menswear set aside, Davila’s women’s wear had quite the impact.
Some standout pieces were tailored leather jackets, sweater vests, printed leggings (seen on both men and women), and embellished knitwear for both men and women. After each look came down the runway I can definitely conclude that Davila’s new line will be a commercial success come fall.
