PARIS, Jun 20, 2014/ — Known for its uncluttered garments with meticulous details, Anahide Saint André played with layers and contrasts for Fall 2014.
On a visual point of view, the use of the colors – blue, grey, plum and gold, provide the contrast. But the designers at Anahide Saint André actually went philosophical in this collection.
The brand’s design philosophy is “Iki”, a Japanese word which is defined as a traditional aesthetic ideal of human behavior or volition, roughly translated as “chic, stylish” in English.
That said, the Anahide Saint André Fall 2014 collection was inspired by Samurai garments, which by the way, in Japan, the samurai as a class is described as devoid of “iki”. Ironically, individual warriors are often depicted in contemporary popular imagination as embodying the “iki” ideals of a clear, stylish manner and blunt, unwavering directness.
Nevertheless, this disparity in the historical and modern points of view is a boon to Anahide Saint Andre as the label twists women garments into a modular concept which allows diversifying and personalizing ones wardrobe for every moment of the day in a chic and playful spirit.
