LOS ANGELES, Oct 23. 2011/ — The always enchanting fashion designer, Sue Wong, showcased her “Lady or Vamp” Spring 2012 Collection at the provocative destination, Voyeur, on Thursday, October 13, 2011.
Guests, who included fashion editors, stylists and celebrities, from members of the casts of The Vampire Diaries, Twilight and The Hunger Games to Leeza Gibbons, enjoyed a night of dancing and cocktails amongst the enthralling and provocative ambiance of the nightclub’s self-proclaimed “live art and erotica.”
The designer has long been fascinated by dual archetypes, powerful resonate images in which the stark contrast between the opposing elements help to define one another, such as creation and destruction; masculine and feminine; good and evil; naughty and nice; and age and youth.
Sue Wong’s Spring 2012 Collection is a study in contrasts inspired by the dual archetypes of the elegant beautiful lady and the sultry, seductive vamp. This enigmatic contrast between the light and dark aspects of feminine nature has long maintained a place in the collective psyche from ancient Biblical stories of Adam and Eve to Hollywood classics, exemplified by Snow White and the nefariously wicked Queen. “Every woman is both Madonna and Temptress,” says Sue Wong.
Leeza Gibbons, renowned talk show host and fashion icon, attended the event in a splendid platinum dress, and surmised that “The Spring 2012 collection takes her elegant creativity to a whole new dimension. Sue Wong is not only a Hollywood Secret Weapon; she represents every woman’s capacity to unleash her most sensual self.”
The collection juxtaposes contrasting motifs, and embraces and celebrates the duality of Lady and the Vamp. Delicately airy, jewel-encrusted, neutral-toned gowns made of organza petals exude romanticism while ravishingly gothic, sexy, black laced gowns of satin and chiffon evoke the Femme Fatale in every woman.
“I believe that in art and architecture, as well as in human behavior, the shadows help us to better understand and appreciate the light,” says designer, Sue Wong.
Sue Wong designs are sold in fine boutiques and department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom and in more than 27 countries worldwide.
