PARIS, Jan 24, 2014/ — Like fine wine, Julien Fournié’s creations are getting better as each season passes. His “First Shiver” collection for Spring/Summer 2014 brings front and center the reason why the young French designer is a name to watch in the very competitive Paris fashion scene.
Inspired by the works of three artists, Jean-Gabriel Domergue, Jean- Honoré Fragonard and Mark Ryden, all of whom happen to be from different eras and their works very distinctive and unique, Julien Fournié referenced their painting and pulled their very different styles to come out with his signature looks.
Domergue is known for his paintings of Parisian women; Fragonard is a Rococo artist whose genre paintings conveyed an atmosphere of intimacy and eroticism while American painter Mark Ryden is dubbed as the godfather of pop surrealism.
Putting their vision altogether, Julien Fournié constructed, deconstructed and then put his own interpretation to create a vision of delicacy of women just before they venture in social events. Fournié paid tribute to the “éternel féminin” dear to the Haute Couture in a contemporary expression.
Adding innovation to tradition, the designer collaborates closely with the unparalleled expertise of Parisian luxury craftsmen (Lesage in particular) and partners on R&D high technologies (with FashionLab by Dassault Systèmes) for virtual 3D.
Under his hand appears a woman who claims a delicate elegance, mixes chic with casualness and transforms her vulnerability into a charming weapon.
