GUAM, Mar 6, 1997/ FW/ —Guam is a little island in the Pacific, 1500 miles southwest of Tokyo. It is a U.S. territory since 1898, as part of the settlement in the Treaty of Paris which officially ended the Spanish-American War that the U.S. won.
From a little unknown island of 100 years ago, Guam is now a tourist destination, majority of them Japanese and Korean. One advantage of Guam is that like Hongkong, it is a duty-free island. Hence, there is a proliferation of luxury goods merchants, catering to the tourist trade.
DFS Galleria is the high-end of the high-end in luxury goods shopping in Guam. In their Boutique Row, names such as Gucci, Prada and Gianni Versace are some of the names on their directory.
