DALLAS, Jun 6, 2005/ FW/ --- Christmas Windows in June!? Actually, most visual merchandisers start planning their Christmas windows in July because of the enormity of the job.
The holiday shopping season is historically when retail stores make the lion’s share of their sales, hence, planning for Christmas decorations start early in the visual merchandising world, especially in national chains like Saks Fifth Avenue.
For Christmas 2005, the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York collaborated with Philips Lighting to create the “Snow Spectacle” display.
With that as a theme, outside store windows were all decorated with the “Snow Spectacle” theme, which was in turn inspired by the vintage snowflake photographs of famed photographer William "Snowflake" Bentley.
Gigantic snowflakes decorate with lights were used as backdrops and props for the mannequins all dressed in winter outerwear or holiday gowns.
With red and white as the predominant color, it was truly Christmas time!
