DALLAS, Aug 6, 2004/ FW/ --- Last Wednesday, Polo Ralph Lauren reported a net income of $13.4 million, or $0.13 per diluted share, more than doubling the $5.1 million reported the same period last year.

According to the report, revenues are also up by 24%, largely driven by Lauren Women’s line and comparative store sales is also up 12.6%.

During the first quarter, the company also completed the acquisition of RL Childrenswear LLC, the licensee for childrenswear in the U.S., Canada and Mexico; hence you will notice that children’s wear has been highlighted at their Madison Avenue flagship store.

“With sales in our retail stores outperforming the industry, we see phenomenal response to our luxury designs,” said Ralph Lauren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer said in a statement.

"Our company is financially strong and poised to produce record profits for fiscal 2005," Mr. Lauren added.
