MILAN, Jun 29, 2006/ FW/ --- While Valentino continues to dress the jet set ladies, for Spring 2007, he decided to dress the male road warriors who travels around the world for both business and pleasure.
No, this Valentino gent is not the quintessential playboy. He’s youthful, energetic and dresses for comfort without sacrificing style. He could be the boy next door, the college student, your friendly neighborhood stockbroker even a computer nerd who happens to have a Type B personality.
For Spring 2007, Valentino created a very relaxed wardrobe that is fluid and almost un-constructed while the tailoring remained sharp. Trousers are baggy, with a low crouch for ease of movement and actually for a comfortable fit during those long trans-Pacific or trans-Atlantic flights.
Suit jackets, which come in one-button, two-button and double-breasted, though loose fitting are cut straight on the shoulders and still define the male torso. Neckties are optional, so Valentino created fine and light knit tees with V-necks, pullovers, tank tops and polo shirts with tone-on-tone color on the placket.
Leather blousons that sometimes come in crocodile skin are zipped in front. The safari jacket was also recreated, this time with more pockets and big buttons for closures. Cardigans are knitted either in solid colors or in brown to beige monochrome. Trenches are light, with wide collars and lapels.
This Valentino lad travels light; he tries to fit everything in his big tote while keeping his gizmos in his messenger bag. He carries a sandal and change of formal shoes. Sometimes, he chooses to wear shoes in the new brown to beige monochrome print that Valentino is introducing this season.
You see him everyone – from Venice to New York to Singapore. Spring break or not, he is on the go! But, that is to be expected. After all, he is a part of the ‘Fellowship of the Travel Ring.’
