Founded in 1994 by husband and wife design team, Michael and Galina Sobolev, Single is an unapologetic stand for the individuality of style and confidence.

Conceived to reaffirm every woman’s zest for life, romance and luxury, Single’s design philosophy is to offer the very latest fashion trends with a fresh and unique interpretation.

Galina is the creative half of Single. A native Russian, she grew up with fashion, learning from her grandmother who was a dressmaker in Odessa how to sew and crochet.

In 1977, her family moved to New York, and Galina enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where her graduation collection earned her two awards. While still a student, she participated in the school’s exchange program, spending a year and a half in England studying knitwear.

Though she had prepared a life in fashion as a designer, it took on a circuitous route when she became a model, walking alongside Pat Cleveland and Iman on the New York runway, modeling for Michael Vollbract and Michael Kors. But her love for design won out in the end, as he decided to work for Marc Jacobs producing exclusive knitwear.

In 1987, Galina moved to Los Angeles to work as a designer for several well-known fashion lines. At the City of Angels, she met Michael, who would eventually become her partner in life and partner in business.

Michael became the business half of the team. Equipped with his entrepreneurial skills and a Masters degree in business, he handles the laborious side called ‘commerce’ as in supply and distribution.

In 1994, Single was born, offering classic luxury with exuberant attitude. Single with its lavish fabrics from delicate silks to the softest cashmeres offers one-of-a-kind prints, which are developed from original artwork, in coordination with art studios in Italy and France.

Single is available at Saks Fifth Avenue, Barney’s New York, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Fred Segal, Harvey Nichols and specialty boutiques worldwide.
