DALLAS, Jul 27, 2006/ FW/ --- South Africa, the 25th largest country in the world in terms of land area. Like the other countries in the region, its history is varied but its development, as a nation is different.

The country is one of the few in Africa that never have had a coup d'état, and regular elections have been held for almost a century. It has vast natural resources – diamonds, gold, platinum, and uranium. These factors helped South Africa become the most developed economy in the region, which in turn the country was also able to build a modern infrastructure.

So, it’s not surprising that it has a thriving fashion industry. Sanlam SA Fashion Week marks its 10th year this season. Since its inception, SSAFW has become South Africa’s most visible fashion forum showcasing the country’s top and emerging designers under one roof.

This season’s proceeding is being held at the Sandton Convention Center and will feature 42 designers during a 4-day period. A three-day fashion seminar is also scheduled.
