S30 Productions at the Metropolitan Pavilion: A New Home For Emerging Design Talents
New York Fashion Week Spring 2007
NEW YORK, Aug 9, 2006/ FW/ --- There is an undercurrent of design talent bubbling just beneath the surface of the fashion industry. They are slowly but surely pushing their way to the surface.
S30 Productions has a keen eye for this talent and steps in to offer them the push they need by providing the space and PR muscle they need to garner the attention of the fickle fashionista press and retail corps.
On Monday, September 11th, these designers who are on the verge, find a home with S30 Productions and the Metropolitan Pavilion as ‘125 West 18th Street’ become their address during the New York Spring 2007 fashion season.
A brainchild of Ron Smith, S30 Productions recognized that there was a need in the industry for young designers to be seen. These young design talents were largely relegated to club shows that didn’t afford them the professionalism and polish of the true runway experience.
Since S30’s inception, the company has been on the verge, fiercely nipping at the heels of similar operations like Mao, Asha and Gen Art. S30 was the first to introduce lines from one of boxing biggest personalities, Roy Jones, supermodel Shakara Ledard and industry darling Derek Green.
The Fall 2006 season proved to be the biggest season in the company’s history – from media coverage to designers to attendance. Over 2000 key industry insiders turned out during the course of the day of shows to check out the more established (Gustavo Arango, Sean John, akademiks), the new kids on the block (Jedda Kahn, Alice Dobson, Roxs by Shakara Ledard) and the unusual (Rusk Haircare).
The shows were covered far and wide by WWD, CBS News, BET Style and various other outlets. The SP07 season promises to be even bigger, particularly with the lure of $5000 VIP bags added to the equation. The most “V” of VIP editors and celebrity guests will be treated to Botox treatments, gifts from Lufthansa Airlines, Blackberry devices, swimwear from Kara Janx and luxury leather products from Giorgio Fedon along with several other premium goodies.
Ron Smith beams when speaking of the growth and direction of S30, “There is no feeling in the world like watching your very own business blossom before your eyes. First crawling, then walking, then a full on sprint! I’m so excited about how fast the business has taken off. We have performed way beyond even my own expectations. And New York is merely the first stop….”
Suffice it to say that S30 will soon be coming to a fashion capital near you!
