London Updates
Aug 26, 2002/ FW/ --- In an unprecedented move by the British Fashion Council
organizers of London Fashion Week, and 7th on Sixth, organizers of New York Fashion Week,
London will kick off the international fashion season for Spring 2003.
This one time date change was necessitated by the first anniversary of September 11, wherein
the commemorative events will be a week long instead of just one day.
Spring 2003 is turning out to be a historic season for London. The event which since 1994 has
been sponsored by VS Sassoon will now be sponsored by P&G Beauty.
P&G Beauty is a 'halo' title that encompasses its portfolio of beauty brands including
Olay, Pantene, Max Factor, Head & Shoulders, Herbal Essences, Nice'n'Easy and Aussie.
Commenting on the move of sponsorship, Nicholas Coleridge, Chairman of the British Fashion
Council, on the announcement said,
"P&G Beauty first became involved with London Fashion Week through the VS Sassoon
brand in 1994. Eight years on we believe the move to a wider sponsorship will
increase the benefits to London Fashion Week and assist the British Fashion
industry as a whole."
The show is also moving its venue to the Duke of York's Headquarters, located at
Kings Road, London SW3
As September draws near, all eyes are in London to kick off the Spring 2003 international
fashion season.
