PARIS, Jul 9, 2005/ FW/ --- Phantom of the Opera passion, drama and theatrics of luscious lace and tiers of volume come together to create a timeless collection for Frank Sorbier.
A giant picture frame sets the scene for a wardrobe that takes inspiration from the thirties and celebrates the well dressed women of the past where femininity is a way of life and clothes breath via luxurious tailoring.
Embroidery, velvet and fur adorn attire that falls to the floor or stops just under the knee. Retracing tight bodices and an everlasting sensual silhouette Sorbier plays with volume before finishing off with tight boots that follow the line of long legs.
In a palette of the essential colors of passion and betrayal that range from black, gold, pewter and red, Sorbier tumbles and twists lace to create a fairytale.
Whether an exquisitely embroided paisley coat, dramatic shoulders or keepsake silver trinkets applied to a jacket, Sorbier layers, weaves and folds to perfection to create unique designs.
After opening with the fervor of opera and full length enthusiasm of an earlier period his princess bride beams into the modern today via air and blossoms with angel wings of white accessorized with white cell phone to call the designer to the stage.
The verdict: applause that seem never ending, just like the tale he tells via his creative imagination.
