Bridal Trends 2001-2002
NEW YORK, May 2, 2001/ --- "All brides are beautiful!" goes an old saying. And with the new collection of bridal gowns from top designers and those who are up and coming, the brides will be more beautiful than ever!
Badgley Mischka
want the brides to look glamourous and elegant on their wedding day. There is almost
a royal feel to them with the use of beading, embroidery, feathers and lace.
Richard Tyler
went for the ultra-modern bride ala rock style. He even created a "biker" gown
with a white Italian duchess motorcycle jacket and beaded cap sleeve sweater with beaded biker hat.
Vera Wang
did an entirely new take on the train, fastening them to all parts of the dress, and could be
removed after the ceremony. Presto, the bride has a new gown for the reception! The designer also concentrated
on the back of the gown. After all, brides have their backs turned from her guests more than half of the time!
The Independent Vision Couture Exposition
on Bridal Collection showed a trend for low cut neckline and
lacy. And the $100,000 wedding dress was an eyecatcher with all the jewels and precious stones embellishing
the bodice.
One big trend - color! Gowns were shown in several shades of white - from oyster to pearl, marble to bone,
ecru to taupe. Lace, feathers, faux fur and jewels are the embellishments of choice.
