Mercedes Australian Fashion Week Enters The Tweens
May 6, 2003/FW/ --- Mercedes Australian Fashion Week (MAFW) is celebrating its 8th year, making
it a 'tween' if we use a demographic term.
As an anniversary gift to itself, MAFW is holding the Spring 2004 shows at its new home at
Circular Quay.
Four specially designed venues namely, The Harbour Pavillion, The Rocks Warehouse,
the MCA Foundation Gallery and the Cargo Hall - all state of the art.
This year also marks the opening of The Source @ MAFW, an exhibition of over 150 designers.
Designed to be a marketplace for four new categories: ready-to-wear, streetwear, New Generation
and swimwear, is designed to be 'instant buying offices' for the exhibitors.
According to MAFW organizers, "the Source @ MAFW has been introduced to better reflect
the merchandise mix found in today’s boutique and department store retailers and the recent
trend in the international fashion industry on more unique, cutting edge fashion exhibitions.
(eg. TBC in London, Bread & Butter in Berlin, Pitti in Florence and Who’s Next in Paris.) "
