Metaphorically “Finding Nemo” In My Own Backyard

SYDNEY, May 5, 2004/ FW/ --- Covering the menswear show intensively and extensively both in Milan and Paris, my interest in that aspect of fashion is more than cursory.

Personally, I’m always on the look out for a good menswear designer. And with very few publications, both print and online that covers menswear; FashionWindows is always willing to give an emerging menswear designer more than a fair shake.

So, attending Ericaamerica show early this morning was more than a pleasant surprise for me. I was floored!

One of the only two menswear designers to show solo this week, because of the early hour, it was obviously poorly attended.

But it’s the fashionista’s loss if he or she did not attend the show, because it was by far the best showing this week. The collection is GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS and GORGEOUS!

The Perth label and first solo collection show did however impress those who were there including Universal Records representatives that bought various pieces to dress singer Marilyn Manson!

And did I already mention that Ericaamerica is from Perth, which is my home city? So, here I am, combing all the fashion capitals of the world for great menswear designers, and metaphorically “Find Nemo” in my own backyard.
