SYDNEY, May 3, 2004/ FW/ --- Australian fashion week is full of group shows, a fabulous initiative to give emerging designers the exposure to press and buyers on the international circuit they need. Ready To Wear this morning saw Bowie, Body, Alexandra Nea, Sable and Tim O’Connor take to the stage.
Cute cardigans, satin and silk and a hint of glamour for evenings, Bowie finished with a sequined mini lace dress.
Body chose a more innovative perspective with luminous bags, cut-aways, back paneling and asymmetry, mixing classical tailoring with sportive elements.
Alexandra Nea showed a beautiful neo romantic take on remembering lace and Paris. Vintage is made modern with delicate mini dresses, tops cut on the bias and floral femininity.
Sable is sheer, simple and elegant giving the audience a taste of striking separates and natty knitwear like the 1970’s pretty black dress with winged sleeves.
Tim O’Connor loves butterflies and pleats. He mixed the 80’s and 50’s through the likes of a mini trench, pretty pinks and aqua greens, high waistlines and Venice as his stage for this parade of rouging and zip closures.
