Akira: Every Piece Is Lovely

SYDNEY, May 4, 2004/ FW/ --- Akira, the only Australian name on the calendar that shows on the international catwalks of Paris was unable to do anything wrong as almost every piece was just plain lovely.

The original Chesty Bonds man (an Australian institution in t-shirts, the Bond label is a Bonds-Dunlop Pacific Australian company) who must have been into his 90’s was the unquestioned hero of the day as he walked the catwalk in the company of some of the hottest ladies around.

Keeping traditional influences from the orient, Akira stencils prints, overlays and has an amazing quality in being able to make it seem that everything he does comes directly from nature and is celebration of the organic as he uses tea dying and floral in creating the sensual feminine softness that is utterly beautiful and admirable.
