Haute Couture: Battle of The Titans
DALLAS, July 29, 2001/ FW/ --- The Haute Couture Show is the pinnacle of fashion, a culmination of the
current season. The titans of the fashion industry show up, the guest list looks like a who's who
in the society listing and the front row is usually sizzling.
Karl Lagerfeld continue to reign Chanel, showing a great collection as always. Donatella Versace
chose flowers for Fall and showed her signature sexiness for the Versace collection.
Herve Leger made a comeback as Herve Leroux. And Azzedine Alaia (who seldom make a formal show) decided
to present this season. And once again, we see the genius of the man.
The line between fashion and art was blurred by Philip Treacy's incredible collection. Jean Paul Gaultier
highlighted the east this season.
Valentino's collection was superb as usual. And Yves Saint Laurent brought life back to his house.
There were new grounds broken such as Donatella's inventively cut suits and Karl Lagerfeld's new silhouette
composed of sheer silk pants worn under lace coat dresses and tunics.
Frederic Molenace continue to be innovative in the use of fabric, bringing techno couture in the forefront.
And yes, with the showing of the Haute Couture Fall 2001, the season ends with a big bang and will be
mentioned in fashion history.
