40 Degrees: Fashion Play

London, Aug 12, 2001/ FW/ --- One of the biggest challenges on the catwalk when presenting several designers at one time is that it is
easy to lose cohesion in the message being presented. Each designer has his or her own vision and piecing
all of these visions together in a runway show can easily result to mayhem.
But not at 40 Degrees runway show! The organizers made it into an fashion play. Instead of making the models
walk the runway, the models "danced and acted" on the stage. The choreography and the music provided
the glue that made it into one show. It was like watching a broadway play or in this case being in London, it
was like being at the West End.
Organized by Emap Fashion, 40 Degrees is an international exhibition for young branded fashion, sportswear
and streetwear brands (including, design, directional casualwear, new breed and
sport) attracting fashion retailers from the UK and overseas, (including,
independent & multiple retailers, department stores, mail order agents,
distributors and press).
What are the trends that emerged from this show?
According to Drapers Record - Denim will rule, but less the embroidery and appliques. The fabric will be
emphasized. Different denim washes from true black to overdyed black, from romantic antique to wrinkle bleach.
Expect wider bell bottom flares and body hugging silhouettes.
