NEW YORK, Sep 12, 2004/ FW / --- Alice Roi decided to go luxe this season with very girly and
dainty pieces, and though she maintained her well-known downtown chic looks, the New York-based designer successfully experimented with European detailing which added texture to the collection.
Choosing a mainly white (as the driven snow) intermingled with blue jay, stone print, fog (barely there gray), and navy as a color palette, Alice Roi used luxe soft fabrics such as lace, taffeta, cashmere, silk jersey, lichen lace, silk and tulle to create 38 striking pieces.
Simple cuts tailored to fit properly on a woman's dainty body with just the right tailoring, such as A-line cuts, boy's pants, pleated skirt, pleated bib, jumpers and crosshatch dress.
Not forgetting beachwear, Alice Roi also showed a couple of crocus swimwear in a one piece as well as a two-piece; not to mention a few eveningwear possibilities in white strata silk and tulle gown, and a crosshatch beaded dress.
Although the collection was quite outstanding, the highlight and the drama came during the end, when the designer’s fiancée Marc Beckman jumped onstage, with a ring, a Judith Ripka brilliant cut-diamond set in platinum while models held signs that said, “Will you marry me?”
The audience was in awe and quite a few of them shared the designer's sentiment seen teary eyed simply translated as tears of joy. She said YES, and the whole room, carried away by the romantic moment applauded and jumped with joy!
