Alicia Lawhon: Creating Joy & Beauty
LOS ANGELES, Nov 2, 2003/ FW/ --- Born in Nayarit, Mexico, Alicia Lawhon was inspired by
her grandmother who sewed garments from recycled fabrics and hand crocheted silk, to
become fashion designer.
She began sewing her own clothes in Hollywood in the 1980s, beginning with the first garment
she ever made, a pair of bondage pants.
Always a fashion person, she kept a "dress" diary in high school so that she will never be seen
in the same outfit twice.
Alicia Lawhon began her fashion career from the retail sector, working at Ron Herman/ Fred Segal
as a sales clerk first, then being promoted to a manager and then a buyer.
In 1996, she became a full time designer.
Celebrity clients include: Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Anniston, Elizabeth Berkley, Jenna Elfman,
Linda Evangelista, Sally Field, Mick Jagger, Anthony Keidis, Lenny Kravitz, Courtney Love,
Elle McPherson, Alanis Morisette, Meg Ryan, Winona Ryder, Gwen Stefani, Dominique Swain,
Sting, Liv Tyler, and Sigourney Weaver.
