Dell'Acqua's British Edge

MILAN, Mar 3, 2002/ FWD/ --- Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s woman always has a bit of an edge.

It’s not surprising then that the Naples-born designer said that the woman he had in mind when designing the collection presented today was Charlotte Rampling.

For movie buffs, you will remember that the British actress Charlotte Rampling has a history of playing characters with texture and, at 56, is still known for her sensuality.

Before the show began, the arrival of local actress Sabrina Ferilli caused a bit of a stir among the crowd.

The petite Ferrilli, dressed in a clinging Dell’Acqua dress, said after the show that she liked his clothes because "there’s a lot of sensuality but also a lot of lightness."

Alessandro’s collection started out with a series of outfits in black.

The designer said that his personal favorite from the collection was the opening outfit: a knit faux fur, which looked perfect for a gala evening, worn with black pants and a black turtleneck.

The collection also had plenty of suits for the office, some with lingerie touches for the woman who brings home the bacon "but never ever lets you forget you’re a man."

And then there were the tuxes which brought to mind a sensual but slightly masculine Marlene Dietrich.

For a night out on the town, flapper-style dresses provided a softer look.
